Lunchtime Catering Assistant

 

Overall Purpose: To be a key and effective member of the school lunch service team, to support with serving food at lunchtime according to government and school meal standards.

Key Accountabilities:

General duties

  • To be responsible for organising and getting the food ready for serving and managing the food temperatures i.e. cooked food to be laid out in the hot food trolley from the cabinets and to ensure the food is kept at the correct temperature
  • To carry out and support with simple food preparation i.e. salads or other simple tasks relating to meals
  • To assist with the meal service, which includes serving the meals to the pupils and be fully aware of any allergens or allergies, this information will be provided by the school via the online meals management software
  • Washing up, this includes operating the dishwasher and general cleaning of the washing up room and equipment, which may include the setting up of the lunch hall
  • To carry out duties of the post in accordance with the school policy
  • To carry out all duties and responsibilities with reasonable care for Health and Safety of yourself and any others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.

Skills & Competences required for this role:

  • Forward thinking attitude towards tasks, with a planned approach to work load
  • Conscientious, flexible personality with the ability to work calmly under pressure
  • The ability to switch between tasks with ease
  • Basic food hygiene qualifications would be useful, but training will be given.

Hours of Work:

  • Monday to Friday. To agree a regular start and finish time. – (no earlier than 11:00am start and no later finish than 2.30pm) Term time only
