Year 1

Welcome to Year 1

In Year 1 at Robertswood, we love to explore the world around us!

Children focus on Reading and Phonics to support all aspects of their learning. The immersive curriculum promotes a wide genre of literature which encourages the children to develop a love of reading.

Highlights of Year 1 include Forest School, trips linked to our curriculum and practical exploration. A favourite trip is a fun filled day out to the Brooklands Transport Museum where children learn all about how different modes of transport have changed over time.

In Year 1, we focus on the transition from EYFS to KS1. We encourage the children to develop a sense of independence and to become an active learner. Throughout the year, we carry out continuous provision to access the National Curriculum.
