Children focus on Reading and Phonics to develop confidence. They have access to a variety of quality texts to develop a love of reading. We use high quality texts as a hook for writing promoting engagement and a high standard of writing. Making vehicles, The Great Fire of London and A Kenyan Safari are just some of the exciting topics covered.

Highlights of Year 2 include Forest School, trips out to places such as the Roald Dahl Museum, the local library and churches, Amersham Field Study Centre for a day of pond-dipping and minibeast exploration.

 At the very end of Year 2, everyone enjoys a fantastic Graduation Ceremony, where children entertain their parents and celebrate the transition from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2. The children are presented with their school tie and enjoy a tea party with their teachers, families and friends.
